The Take Home Message
One of the messages people take away from our documentaries is that one person can make a difference, and nearly every day here at Tribe of Heart we are reminded that it's true!
We hear from people all over the country and around the world who are sharing our films in their communities with friends, family members, co-workers, teachers, students, legislators, and with the members of all kinds of social and service organizations.
The venues for these screenings have ranged from people's homes to college classrooms to libraries and coffee houses and independent movie theaters. Audiences have been as small as a handful, and as large as several hundred.
Holding a screening of a Tribe of Heart film creates a rare opportunity for positive dialogue in the community on the ethics of the human-animal relationship, and promotes contemplation of some of our most cherished human values -- respect, fairness, non-violence, and compassion. Here are some comments from those who have held a screening of their own:
"People I didn't know came up to me afterwards with newfound awareness and thanked me with tears in their eyes."
"Every time we give a showing, people stay around afterward and talk about it. They have been influenced and it is so exciting to hear what they are feeling."
"One message I took away is that it doesn't take a huge organization in order to make a big difference. I've also realized how powerful it can be to show a really well made film in order to get people to start considering the possibility that animals should be included in the sphere of moral concern." |
